Stop Scrubbing Your Face Like a Kitchen Floor! (And What You Should Use Instead)

If there is one lie we’ve been told about skincare, it’s this: "If it doesn't scratch, it's not working."
We have spent years scrubbing our faces with apricot pits, sugar, and salt, thinking that the "grit" meant we were getting a deep clean. But I am here to put my Instructor hat on and tell you the truth: That logic works for your linoleum, but it is ruining your face.
Why I Don't Use Sugar on the Face
Addressing the "Why NOT Sugar" question is important to me because I formulate with clinical intention.
When you look at sugar or walnut shells under a microscope, they have jagged edges. When you drag those edges across your face, they cause micro-tears.
For mature skin, this is a disaster. As we age, our acid mantle (the skin's protective barrier) begins to weaken. We have been through enough stress in our lives; our faces do not need a physical assault from a sugar cube.
What I Am Working On (The Solution)
I know we need exfoliation, but we need it to be kind. This is the problem I am currently solving in the lab.
I am developing a formulation that pivots from the "grit" of a body scrub to the "silk" of a face exfoliant.
My focus is on Jojoba Beads.
Why? They are spherical. They roll over the skin rather than scratching it.
The Benefit: They are actually made of wax, meaning they provide manual exfoliation that eventually melts slightly to provide extra conditioning.
Stay Tuned
I am currently pairing these beads with a lightweight Mango-butter emulsion to ensure the final result is non-greasy and rinses perfectly clean. I’m calling this concept "The Velvet Polish", and I cannot wait to share the final product with you soon.
